Founded in the 1832 by Auguste
Agassiz with the name of "Agassiz & Compagnie" only in the 1866
Longines changed its name to the actual one. Name due to the purchase,
by the nephew of Agassiz, of a land in a hamlet of Saint-Imier actually
in the local dialect Les Longines "long and narrow fields"Ernest
Francillon, where he built his watch factory.
