It’s in far 1928 that Rolex launched in the market the first models Prince, with an unique rectangular shape that, from that moment, became a classic and that, even now are the most wanted models by collectors. Because of their double quadrant, those watches were nicknamed “Doctor watch”: the clear separation of the "trotteuse" from hours/minutes allowded, in fact, to doctors an easy reading of the beat.

After bringing Rolex on the vertex for precision and elegance – it was the first watch on a great scale made, that obtained a chronometrical certification – at the end of 40’s the Prince production has been stopped. Only in 2005 Rolex decided to bring back the Prince in a modern and strongly updated edition, including it in the Cellini collection.

It’s with the current model, presented at Baselworld 2015, that Rolex followed out an extraordinary proof of concept: by combining technique and creativity, they managed to pay tribute to its most emblematic model.

The new Cellini Rolex Prince is presented in five variations with unique patterns, with rectangular watch case 45mm x 29mm in yellow and white gold or Everose 18 ct.
The quadrants, characterized by a particular disposition of the pointings inside two separate counters, one for hours and minutes, and the other for seconds at 6 o’clock, embellished with gorgeous guillchès garnishes. Out-and-out works of art with “Godron” motifs with concentric circles or “rayon flammè de la gloire”.

The Prince has a mechanical motion hand charged – the 7040 caliber clearly visible throughout the transparent back cover- especially ideated and created by Rolex.
Rectangular shaped it uses the entire area to guarantee precision and excellent performances and to allow the bridges decoration with designs that are exactly alike the quadrant ones. In addition the Prince is provided with an alligator leather watchstrap with stitchings in black or brown, according to the models, combined with a butterfy clip in 18 ct. gold like the case.

We are confident that the new Prince is a model, that like its predecessor is intended to become an evergreen to be passed on father and son.
