Longines presents the Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935
The models of the Heritage line Longines were born as a tribute to the companies of the aviation pioneers who since the dawn of this discipline have used timepieces of Maison Saint-Imier in their adventures.
Among the creations of the Heritage collection for example we mention the Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch, a re-edition watch developed for the American pilot Charles Lindbergh, author of the first solo flight across the Atlantic direct flights: a company who will turn ninety this year.
In these watches, Longines combines the original aesthetic of its most significant historical models to modern watchmaking technologies like the new model Avigation Watch Type A-7 in 1935.
Chronographs classified as "Type A-7" were ordered Longines in 1935 by the American army. Solidity and precision were the essential requirements that had to meet very strict criteria. They were large aviator watches that even exceeded 50mm.
The new Longines Watch Avigation Type A-7 in 1935 while referring to the original model has a box smaller 41mm but also thicker, which gives a completely different presence at the wrist. A choice that allows even fairly small wrists or women to wear it. The aesthetics instead was taken faithfully. The dial is painted white (the original was in china), the arrangement of large Arabic numerals in bold-colored honey is 40 degrees as in the first Type A-7. However some details have changed, as the spheres of the hours and minutes pear skeleton with blue edges and blued hands completely replacing those in the first steel Type A-7.
The new Type A-7 in 1935 has a more refined look than the first edition and some stylish details as the case back showing an incision depicting the silhouette of an aircraft and a geometry-ray recalling a style in vogue in the first half of twentieth century.
The stainless steel case is rounded and polished and has a single small opening at seven o'clock for the date correction. The button and crown coaxial to twelve activate the product L788.2 caliber from ETA SA a mechanical self-winding movement fitted with mono-pusher chronograph mechanism and column-wheel with power reserve of 54 hours. The strap is brown alligator leather with buckle.
In summary a sports watch timeless, suitable for everyone and for every occasion. Bedetti official Longines dealer awaits you in his store in Piazza San Silvestro to introduce the new collection.
