Baume & Mercier has recently presented its new timekeepers "Legendary Drivers Edition" of the Capeland Shelby Cobra 1963 collection. The preview was given at the first European "Shelby Only" meeting on the famous Mistral straight at Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, southern France. A bombastic tribute to a legendary race car, the Shelby Cobra 289 CSX2128, and its equally legendary drivers of the 60s, because the cars are nothing without their drivers.

The four watches are in fact dedicated to four legendary drivers: Allen Grant, Dan Gurney, Dave MacDonald and Ken Miles. These new watches embody the spirit and power of the Cobra without missing its absolute elegance, the quality and attention to detail. All made possible by the "savoir-faire" of Baume & Mercier, whose watchmaking tradition is based on the commitment of their far-sighted founders and the constant effort to improve the philosophy of the brand.

Casing of polished/satin-finished steel or ADLC steel, strap of vulcanized rubber or alligator, these four Capeland 1963 Shelby Cobra 'Legendary Driver Edition' each have colour variations inspired by the CSX2128 bodywork. They will be produced in a limited edition of only 15 copies per model, in homage to the first race of the number of Cobra CSX2128 and will be engraved with the name of each pilot represented.

"Motoring and fine watchmaking have a lot in common, as well as the Carroll Shelby and Baume & Mercier. Cars and watches are closely related to the concept of performance," said Alain Zimmermann, CEO of Baume & Mercier.

In summary a watch that celebrates the spirit of motor sport and especially the making of a champion hidden in each of us, that can show up in any moment of our life as the events leitmotiv "Life is about moments" indicates.
