It was March 21st 1999 when the two aerostats Brian Jones and Bertrand Piccard - with a Breitling Emergency on their wrist - landed the Breitling Orbiter 3 balloon in a remote region of the Egyptian desert after traveling 45'755 km in 19 days, 21 hours and 55 minutes.

To celebrate the longest non-stop flight in aviation history both in terms of distance and duration Breitling presented, exactly after 20 years on March 21st 2019, the Cockpit B50 Orbiter Limited Edition.

"Bertrand is an exceptional explorer - said Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling - and he is also one of the true visionaries of the world. {..] It is an inspiration for all of us and constantly strives to make the planet a better place. We knew we had to create a very special watch to honor him and the twentieth anniversary of the Breitling Orbiter 3. "

Thus a timepiece was born with features worthy of a true scientific and aeronautical milestone. The Breitling Cockpit B50 Orbiter Limited Edition is powered by the Breitling B50 Manufacture Caliber: a SuperQuartz thermally compensated movement made in Breitling with analogue and digital indication and ten times more accurate than ordinary quartz. It is a COSC certified chronometer and in addition to the chronograph with intermediate time functions and Flyback it is equipped with a tachometer, a second time zone, two alarm clocks, a perpetual calendar and a countdown timer with alarm and a chrono device flight ”, which records flight times by storing the time of arrival, departure and the date.

Made of carbon-coated black titanium, it is in a limited edition of only 213 pieces. The bottom of the case is screwed in titanium and shows the image of a balloon placed on top of the globe. The figures, indexes and hands are covered with Super-LumiNova, for an optimal reading in any lighting condition. The strap is in orange rubber with a deployant buckle.

In summary, the Cockpit B50 Orbiter Limited Edition is a high-tech chronograph that not only reminds of a company from the past but also projects us into a future yet to be explored.
