The new Historiques models
The Historiques collection celebrates the history of the oldest existing watchmakers in the world, the Vacheron Constantin. A Maison that has never had interruptions since its foundation on the 17th of September 1755.
Vacheron Constantin over the centuries has produced exceptional timepieces in line with tradition and manufactured according to the benchmark set by the famous Geneva Seal. Officially established on November 6, 1886 by the "bureau de contrôle des montres facultatif de Genève" the Hallmark of Geneva is an exclusive seal that Vacheron Constantin has obtained already in 1901. The hallmark not only certifies the authenticity of the origin, but sets the essential characteristics and quality standards to which the watchmakers that produce, assemble and debug mechanical movements inside the canton of Geneva have to comply.
This path of excellence, which is inspired by Vacheron Constantin for over a century now, has helped train its watchmakers to perpetuating the spirit of craftsmanship and traditional savoir-faire of old cabinotiers: the "philosophers" craftsmen to whom it is deeply linked the birth of Genevan watchmaking.
The three new Historiques models - made following the company motto: "do better if possible, and it is always possible" - reinterpret some emblematic watches of the past and bring the total number watches in the line up to eleven.
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache is the new edition of the first waterproof chronograph created by Vacheron Constantin in 1955 and characterized by twisted loops precisely referred to "cow horns."
Already made in 2015 with a platinum case, it shows today an opaline silver dial and a 38,5 mm rose gold case more faithful to the 35 mm yellow gold one of the reference model 6087. It mounts a Calibre 1142, a chronograph with manual winding column-wheel-shaped Maltese Cross, symbol of the Maisons.
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 is the collections emblem. It already appeared in other versions in gold, but the new Historiques 1921 immediately jumps right into the eye with its distinctive silver dial with grained background with painted blue Arabic numerals that enhance the shape of the case of a 40 x 40 mm pillow. The American 1921 mounts a caliber 4400 AS offering indications of hours, minutes, and seconds at 3 o'clock that actually corresponds to 4 here.
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ultra-fine 1955 is the newest standard bearer of the Historiques line and has a very precious 36 mm casing made of platinum and an opaline silver dial with slender baton hour markers in 18 ct. white gold. The movement is of the calibre 1003, ultra-thin hand-wound which 113 items cluttering height is just 1.64 mm, the power reserve is reduced to 31 hours. The numbering unfolds differently than the classical canons of traditional watchmaking: in fact, the number 12 is placed instead of the number 1, and so on in turn for the remaining numbers.
