TAG Heuer CARRERA Mikrograph Anniversary edition: 1916-2016
It's been 100 years since Heuer introduced the world's first mechanical stopwatches with a reading accuracy of 1/100 second and 1/50 second, the Mikrograph, the Microsplit, the Semikrograph and Semicrosplit.
Thanks to these watches Heuer became the official supplier of chronographs of the Olympic Games in Antwerp (1920), Paris (1924) and Amsterdam (1928).
Today, a century later, Tag Heuer realized the Carrera Mikrograph in a limited edition of only 100 copies.
This anniversary edition with retro charm has a white lacquered dial, a 45mm Carrera type polished stainless steel case, a spherical fluted crown at 12 o'clock for charging the chronograph and the two "mushroom" pushers at 11 and 13 hours in memory of the first chronographs named Heuer.
The TAG Heuer Mikrograph 1/100 second has an automatic bidirectional mechanical movement calibre.
This exceptional caliber integrates two mechanisms: one for the time and the other for the chronograph, each with its own barrel, transmission and exhaust system.
The first, dedicated to the watch, oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 42 hours, while the second, with an autonomy of 90 minutes, controls the chronograph at 1/100 second.
On the white lacquered dial with scratch resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the numbers and indices are in black, the hands in blued teardrop shaped steel and arrow shaped on the counter hands, while for the hours and minutes the hands are in the shape of a rounded leaf.
At 6 o'clock stands the vintage Heuer logo and the words "Made in Switzerland" as in the original model.
The sapphire crystal case back shows the titanium carbide movement, decorations with Côtes de Genève and the oscillating weight engraved with the limited edition number that loads the barrel of the watch’s mechanism.
The racing style strap is perforated in grey-colored calf leather and is secured to the wrist with a steel folding clasp and safety button.
Waterproof up to 100 meters, it is shown in an elegant grey casket ash coated in Alcantara with an inner bayonet fastener through which can be used as a table clock or be mounted on a car dashboard. Bedetti, official TAG Heuer dealer, is waiting for you in their store in Piazza San Silvestro to show you all the novelties of the brand from La Chaux-de-Fonds.
