Vacheron Constantin presents the new Historiques Triple Calendrier
The Historiques collection celebrates the history of the world's oldest watchmaking: Vacheron Constantin. A Maison that has never been interrupted since its founding - on September 17, 1755, at the historic site at number 7 of Quai de l'Ile in the Saint-Gervais district in the heart of Geneva - and which over the centuries has produced exceptional timely in line with tradition and realized in accordance with the criteria of the famous Poinçon de Genève.
The Historiques collection is among the most appreciated by Vacheron Constantin and is now enriched with the new Triple Calendrier 1942 and 1948, two watches inspired by the 4240 and 4240L vintage references dating to 1942 and 1948.
The original Triple Calendrier 4240 had a 35mm case with claw hooks and step bezel. The triple calendar was on the dial: weekday window, month window, and date indication. It was animated by a caliber 485 a personalization of the Jaeger-LeCoultre 449 in the late 1930's because of the Great Depression Vacheron Constantin had to deal with economic difficulties with Jaeger-LeCoultre. The re-edition of the Triple Calendrier 4240 that included the yellow, pink and steel gold case is now only available in steel. The diameter has passed to 40mm, the claw loops and the cupcake crown are unchanged. On the cream dial stands out the 12 Arabic numerals printed in a special font surrounded by a continuous small-scale. The day of the week and of the month are displayed in a double window typical of the Geneva Clockwork School. At the center there are the two hourly and minute stick hands and a third arrow pointing to the date and at 6 o'clock seconds. It is animated by 4400 QC based on the 4400 manual gauge with a 65 hour recharge reserve. It operates at a frequency of 28800 hourly oscillations and enjoys the certification of the Punzone di Geneva.
The Triple Calendrier 4240L had a 35mm diameter case and was animated by the 495 caliber. In addition to small design differences such as Roman numerals at 12 o'clock, there was not much difference with the 4240 except for lunar phases. The new Triple Calendrier 1948 in addition to having the Moon Phase Indicator is only available with a 4 N pink gold case of a hue very similar to the original. The cream dial has triangular indexes and Roman numerals. At six o'clock, you will see the lunar phase indicator with satin finish, which also works as a second and the windows of day and month are ribbed with gold. It is animated by the 4400 QCL movement with the same features as the 4400 QC with the addition of the moon phase module that requires adjustment once every 122 years.
The date and day and month dates are available in burgundy shades or dark blue with hand-sewn dark brown or dark blue alligator leather strap and with a half-cross cross-shaped buckle. It is available in two limited series of 200 copies per color individually numbered "X / 200" on the bottom.
Both new Triple Calendrier Historiques feature tripod trunks and claw-shaped crates, and are certified by the Geneva Punch. Synthesis of design and savoir-faire are collection clocks designed to increase value over the years.
