It continuously infuses its transformative power into the Maison’s great classics, which are constantly being reinvented, such as the Tortue Monopoussoir Chronograph watch from the Cartier Privé collection.

It sparks unexpected encounters between figuration and abstraction through a collection of jewellery watches that transform Cartier’s fauna and unsettle perceptions.

It invites us to play with the mystery of time. Sometimes it’s an optical phenomenon, like the Reflection de Cartier watch, which shifts the real into the imaginary. Sometimes it’s an unexpected measure, like that of the Santos-Dumont Rewind watch, which takes time backwards thanks to a movement that turns the hands counter-clockwise, or the Santos de Cartier Dual Time watch, which allows you to read the time simultaneously in two different places.

CARTIER PRIVÉ COLLECTION

Cartier Privé is the eighth annual rendez- vous for watchmaking enthusiasts, with a contemporary take on one of the most prestigious watches in Cartier’s repertoire: the Tortue.

It follows on from the rare watches unveiled in previous years, such as the Crash, the Tank Cintrée and the Tonneau, all of which have been redesigned with a single ambition in mind: dedicating technique to aesthetics. This year, Cartier has chosen to introduce the monopoussoir chronograph complication.

The Tortue watch was born in 1912 from a powerful creative vision, namely to create a dialogue between curves and taut lines. The new hours/minutes Tortue is faithful to the original design, but has been subtly reworked. With horns stretched along the strap and a slimmer profile, the watch has flourished and been made lighter. Paying tribute to the very first model, it features apple-shaped hands and a rail-track that follows the iconic shape of the watch around the hour markers, making the dial even easier to read.

ANIMAL JEWELLERY WATCHES

Charismatic and untameable, the emblematic animals of Cartier’s menagerie have been present in its watchmaking since 1914, the year in which the panther’s coat first appeared on a watch case.

This year, a fascinating chimera, born from a meeting of the zebra and crocodile, inspires this entirely paved creation. It is simultaneously graphic and organic, with each stripe lacquered by hand. The silhouette of this imaginary creature encircles a diamond-shaped dial, as if to embrace it. The delicacy of the engraving around each coloured stone reflects the Maison’s expertise.

REFLECTION DE CARTIER COLLECTION

After the Clash [Un]limited and Coussin watches, the Reflection de Cartier watch continues the odyssey of magic, illusion and fascination. The collection’s motto: transcribing the mysteries of time through bold creations.

The result of Cartier’s work on shapes, this watch combines savoir-faire from Cartier watchmakers and jewellers alike. It all starts with the open bracelet’s unprecedented generous architecture, which blends openwork and polished reflective gold with elongated lines and defined edges. Tension culminates as a delicate dial meets its reflection, where time appears to move backwards. The gem-like bevelled glass on the dial marks the piece’s double identity, equal in sophistication and precision.

SANTOS DE CARTIER AND SANTOS-DUMONT COLLECTIONS

Staying loyal to the aviator’s originality and ingenuity, Cartier is continuing the adventure with two newly-imagined versions of this icon. Two watches to question our perception of time.

First, the elegant Santos-Dumont Rewind watch which changes how we traditionally tell the time and, second, the bold Santos de Cartier Dual watch which allows you to track two different time zones at once.

Bold and transformative, this new Santos de Cartier Dual Time watch overcomes distance, just like the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont did in his day.

Its mechanical movement with automatic winding combines two time zones, allowing you to tell the time both where you are and where you’re from simultaneously, without sacrificing its usual resistance and reliability.

The carnelian dial is full of boldness and its subtle nuances emphasise just how unique this limited edition in platinum is. Roman numerals indicate the time in an arrangement that reverses tradition!

Bedetti, with more than a century-long tradition in the field of Haute Horlogerie, in the heart of Rome, is an authorized Cartier dealer, and we are pleased to present the Maison’s latest products unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2023.

For Cartier, time is cyclical, rather than linear, as it is conventionally portrayed. This singular vision explains why the Maison is always engaged in an endless process of transformation and reinvention, a continuous movement that leads us into the future.

This year, Cartier’s new watch collections reflect this: these watches full of form and character that the Maison revisits and transforms through the prism of creativity.

TANK NORMALE

Today, Cartier Privé reveals its 7th opus: the Tank Normale. Created in 1917 by Louis Cartier and launched two years later, the Tank is one of the Maison’s most remarkable creations, and in the history of watchmaking.

This year, Cartier has dreamt up an hour/ minute version that borrows the proportions and bevelled sapphire crystal of the original.

This model is supplied on a yellow gold bracelet or a platinum bracelet, with satin and polished finishes evoking a very 70s spirit.

Cartier has added a skeleton movement to this emblematic model, accompanied by a 24-hour complication marked by a sun and crescent moon that is also skeletonised.

A limited edition of 50 numbered watches, this skeletonised Tank comes in yellow gold on a brown and green alligator strap with a blue sapphire cabochon on the winding crown and in platinum on a burgundy and grey alligator strap with a ruby cabochon.

Tank Américaine

Launched in 1989, the Tank Américaine drew its inspiration from the Tank Cintrée watch, from which it borrowed its curved case. At the same time, the Tank Américaine watch introduced the first adjustable strap adapted to the famous folding buckle, for which Cartier filed a patent in 1910.

In 2023, the Maison’s design studio is reinforcing the original design of the watch and its curved shape by carving a finer, more acrobatic line. The purity of its form is further reinforced by the style of the dial and the flawless integration of the brancards into the extension of the strap.

SANTOS-DUMONT

Staying true to the elegance of the original 1904 model, the legacy lives on. With a gold or steel case, visible screws, a beaded crown and blue cabochon, the latest Santos-Dumont watch—reinterpreted in 2019—features a skeleton movement, with each and every structural detail paying tribute to the aviator. Inventive and narrative, this movement includes a miniaturised functional oscillating weight in the shape of a replica of the Demoiselle, a trailblazing plane designed by the pilot in 1907. The symbol is made all the more powerful as it seems to soar over a globe.

BAIGNOIRE

This year, a change of scale, a change of function. In a new alignment of proportions, the dial and its signature Roman numerals are crowned with a richer gold ribbon. Cartier explores the oval of the dial, the watch’s hallmark, and transposes it into a bezel to be slipped as close to the wrist as possible. The birth of a hybrid, precious object: a watch that is also a piece of jewellery.

This new concept exalts the sensual character of the watch, whose curved case guarantees comfort. In rose gold, yellow gold or fully paved, the new Baignoire celebrates the bright, sunlit gold of the very first watch.

CLASH UNLIMITED

The Clash [Un]limited watch is characterised by an elegant mechanism that stands out for its beauty, creating a jewellery watch that combines finesse with power. With beads, picot studs, clou carrés and mobility, the Clash de Cartier codes flow, intertwine, forge their way and manifest themselves in the form of a precious watch.

From faceted corners and bevelled dials to full and empty spaces, as well as round and square elements, its geometry is constant and true to the Maison’s style. A culture of design counterbalanced by Cartier’s graphic precision through movement, from the beads that roll over each other to the hinges of the bracelet, all articulated to create softness on the skin.

Panthère

Cartier’s iconic panther fiercely magnetises the company’s latest jewellery watch. It boldly closes its jaws on a black lacquer dial, the colour of which mirrors its famous spots.

Fierce and wild, it is a masterful addition to the repertoire of precious La Panthère collections. A masterpiece that owes its elegance to the vitality of jewellery-making expertise, hand finishing, lacquered and polished spots, and setting.

This rigorous design is in keeping with the bracelet developed by the creation studios and the Manufacture, which is fully articulated and extremely flexible. Equipped with an ingenious system and no visible hinges, it hugs the wearer, as close to the wrist as possible, magnetic and seamless.

È il lontano 1882 quando Antonio Bedetti, uomo colto e intraprendente, già Direttore d’Orchestra di Santa Cecilia, apre un negozio di orologi insieme al Cavalier Carlo Bandiera, di fronte al Teatro Marcello.

Il suo nome è noto ai romani perché legato ad uno degli orologi monumentali più amati dal pubblico cittadino: l’orologio ad acqua del Pincio, ideato nel 1867 dal padre domenicano Giambattista Embriaco, per la cui realizzazione aveva fornito la propria collaborazione lo stesso Antonio Bedetti.
