Tag Heuer presents Monza Calibre 17 Chronograph Titanium
The "Monza" collection was founded in 1976 with the Ferrari Monza Chrono - created by Jack Heuer great-grandson of the founder of the factory- to commemorate Niki Lauda's 1st World Championship win for Ferrari. Tag Heuer is during those years (1971 to 1979) the official timekeeper of the team and is the first time that the written MONZA appears on the quadrant of a watch.
that time the watch design turned out very unusual but elegant. The cushion
case 39 mm was inspired by an historic model from 1925. Still remains a highly
desirable collectors watch, also because it was the protagonist of few
In 2003 has been presented again this line of watches and chronographs, but only with the new Tag Heuer Monza Calibre 17 Chrono Titanio there was a close re-edition to the original spirit
The Tag Heuer Monza Calibre 17 Chronograph Titanium in fact reinterprets the codes of this iconic watch combining the automotive spirit of the 70s to the Decò elegance of a Heuer Pre-Monza of the '30s. An entirely black chronograph, equipped with counters and lancets in red to retrieve its racing DNA. Still maintains the cushion case like the original model (now 42 mm and made of titanium grade 5, which replaces the previous steel models), the black dial, the display of the date at 6 o'clock and the color indices in yellow. Also takes up the the two key functions of this watch: the pulsometer to measure the heart rate and the tachometer scale to convert the time into velocity.
More original references are the hour and minute lancets lacquered in black and white, indexes - now SuperLuminova - in orange vintage art and the historic Heuer logo on the watch face. Encloses inside, the automatic chronograph Caliber 17, with two chronograph counters at 3 and 9 o'clock, not too close to each other to give harmony to the quadrant. Case back with lacquered Red Heuer Shield and engraved number. It's completed by a black perforated calfskin leather strap, inspired by vintage steering wheels.
A timepiece destined to become a milestone in the history of TAG Heuer that as we remember his motto is the avant-garde of Swiss watchmaking since 1860 (Swiss Avant-Garde Since 1860).
